Diane recently moved to
Pawleys
Island
from the Outer Banks of NC. She is a self taught artist
who started off with paints but has discovered the joy
of working in three dimensions and now works mostly with
wood. From her plank-fish made from "hurricane wood"
(discarded lumber left to the elements for years) to her
"rootheads" made from barnacle encrusted driftwood,
Diane delights in highlighting the beauty of the wood's
imperfections.
Her jewelry and ornaments showcase the
overlooked beauty to be found in the remnants of shells
and coral found on the south beaches of
Pawleys
Island.
With her son recently off to college, as Diane maneuvers
the perils of empty-nest syndrome, she finds great peace
in finding new purposes for the many cast off treasures
she discovers. Each of her pieces has a story, feel
free to ask her when you see her in the gallery!
